## Contents

Modern computational methods for dealing with typical problems arising in condensed matter physics. The following topics will be covered:- Introduction to object oriented programming (using Python as an example).
- Overview of computational linear algebra methods.
- Representation of quantum statistical models on computers.
- Monte Carlo methods (including Quantum Monte Carlo).
- Exact diagonalization.
- Numerical renormalisation group.
- Density matrix renormalisation group.
- Dynamical mean field theory.

## Literature

We will use ALPS to explore many of the methods mentioned in the contents.http://alps.comp-phys.org/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page
